St Helens Economy Showing Strong Growth Potential

Growth Flag has launched a new report, spotlighting the positive outlook for growth potential in St. Helens over the next year.
The report, ‘The State of Growth in St Helens’, was launched during the St. Helens Business Expo 2024 at the Totally Wicked Stadium, home to St Helens Saints R.F.C.
The report highlights that around 600 (10%) businesses in the borough are likely or very likely to achieve 20% growth over the next year. This growth potential varies throughout the borough, with the wards of Rainford and Haydock having much larger proportions of these high growth potential businesses.

The State of Growth in St. Helens provides a comprehensive outlook of business growth potential in the borough over the next year, including through highlighting key opportunities and challenges.
Based on the latest data, wholesale and retail trade is the largest sector in St. Helens making up 16% of all businesses, closely followed by the construction sector with 14% of all businesses in the borough. Growth Flag analysis also highlights higher levels of growth potential businesses in the borough compared to the national average in the manufacturing, transportation, and administrative sectors.
