Perth and Kinross has been named the top location in the UK with the strongest business growth potential for a second year in a row.

Kirsty Easton, Team Leader for Business, Place and Investment, and Jack Welch, Councillor at Perth and Kinross Council, were presented with the award at the launch of Growth Outlook 26 in Manchester on the 21 January 2026.

Perth and Kinross is located within Scotland’s central belt, part of the Tay Cities Region, and well-connected to major cities including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen. A gateway to the Highlands and surrounded by stunning scenery, Perth and Kinross offers a diverse environment for businesses – 58% of which are located in a rural setting. The area is consistently ranked as one of the top five places to live and work in the UK.

Perth and Kinross benefits from a diverse business base that spans a broad range of sectors. It is a proven leader in food and drink, tourism, and financial and business services, while it is increasingly a leading player in driving the UK’s journey to net zero. Large employers are headquartered and have major operational and strategic presence in the area including SSE, Aviva, Stagecoach and Highland Spring, while small businesses also play a crucial role in the vibrancy of the region.

Speaking about the recognition as the UK's top location with the strongest business growth potential for the year ahead, Perth and Kinross Council leader Councillor Eric Drysdale said:

"This is the second year in a row Perth and Kinross has been recognised as the best place in the UK for business growth potential.

"This tremendous success is a result of the hard work, resilience and innovation of our business community, and the underlying strength and diversity of our local economy.

"The Council is committed to supporting businesses and helping them to create a stronger and more sustainable local economy.

"We will work together to drive the economy forward and ensure Perth and Kinross remains one of the best places to live, work and do business."
